got back on the up returned to 6f, perfectly well settled without his usual hood in a race in which others raced too freely, things working out perfectly from his inside draw; never far away, travelled fluently, going well when led over 1f out, soon clear; a truly-run 6f would appear his optimum.

ran much better than on his handicap debut 2 months on, outlasting his rival for the lead - who also came from a wide draw - but picked off by an experienced rival who'd sat just behind; pressed leader taking strong hold, challenged under 2f out, left behind by winner approaching final 1f, kept on.

A lightly-raced bunch on the whole but a good proportion were held back by that inexperience and the most battle-tested among them took full advantage of so many of the others having raced inefficiently; the pair from the widest stalls got across to dispute the lead but the gallop appeared to steady after 2f or so.
