A useful handicap, the highly-progressive Caballo de Mar allowed to set his own pedestrian fractions and sprinting clear of his rivals in the straight to record an impressive 5-timer, the third and fifth not having the race run to suit.

CABALLO DE MAR (IRE) was representing last year's winning connections and continues to go from strength to strength, completing a 5-timer with any amount in hand having his first crack at 2m, allowed to set his own moderate fractions in front; dictated, ed home turn, shaken up 2f out, clear when edged right approaching final 1f, eased final 50 yds, won readily; circumstances won't always be so favourable, but he's most progressive and can defy another rise in the weights.

MANXMAN (IRE) was back on all-weather and ran well after 7 months off, just no match for the rapidly-progressive favourite; tracked pace, lost place 3f out, pushed along over 2f out, headway approaching final 1f, kept on, no match for winner; he didn't finish out of the placings in 5 starts last season and looks set for another solid campaign.

DUKE OF OXFORD was back in calmer waters and stepped up on reappearance run; mid-field, short of room over 3f out, lost place soon after, headway over 2f out, outpaced approaching final 1f, rallied final 100 yds, would have benefited from a stronger gallop.

HEATHEN again ran creditably, though didn't find much for pressure having caught the eye with his move into contention; raced off the pace, travelled better than most, short of room over 3f out, headway from 2f out, shaken up approaching final 1f, not quicken.

CHARGING THUNDER shaped as if still in good form back on all-weather, not seen to best effect the way this unfolded; raced off the pace, shaken up 3f out, headway over 2f out, keeping on when edged left final 1f, would have benefited from a stronger gallop.

KYLE OF LOCHALSH was back on all-weather and wasn't seen to best effect returning from 6 months off, unable to sustain his effort following a big move into contention on the home bend; mid-field, rapid headway out wide over 3f out, ridden soon after, weakened from 2f out.

BLAZEON FIVE had been first and second on both previous visits here but possibly needed the run after 13 weeks off; waited with, headway over 3f out, ridden over 2f out, weakened approaching final 1f.

GIBSIDE went backwards from reappearance, beaten much further by Caballo de Mar here; prominent, took strong hold, lost place over 3f out, outpaced 2f out, beaten when hung right approaching final 1f.

WAHRAAN (FR) ran a typical race after 7 months off; very slowly away, soon detached, refused to settle, latched on to main group after 4f, brief headway out wide over 3f out, made no impression.

POSTILEO (IRE) had offered little in 4 starts on the Flat for Emmet Mullins last year and it was a similar story on return for a new yard (sold 8,000 gns), a first-time visor failing to spark a revival; prominent, not settle fully, lost place over 3f out, soon beaten.
